Came out to my show tonight And brought your brand-new lover Playin' nice and cool, you know Not tryin' to blow your cover You're clean as a whistle But that don't make you fine You think any game's a good one Long as the trains run on time Standing in the front row Makin' sure that I could see Pointin' at the set list Sayin', "That one's about me." Yeah, you're clean as a whistle But that don't make you fine You think any game's a good one Long as the trains run on time Some days you was red And some days you was black Some days you was Johnny And some days you was Jack Took the tickets at the door In your conductor's hat Told your buddies at the bar "I had me some of that" And now you're clean as a whistle But that don't make you fine You think any game's a good one Long as the trains run on time You're clean as a whistle But that don't make you fine You think any game's a good one Long as the trains run on time

Acres of hopeless spin out from the city The traffic lights don't work to blink Three generations of lead poison crazy Too undernourished to think Armchair messiahs Too scared to drive through here Somebody's got some Explaining to do here (Oh how they burn) Who put the stars in my eyes? (Oh how they burn) Who put the stars in my eyes? (Oh how they burn) How they burn Don't sweat the grand, 'cause they lie on the stand And it's only your word against his Serving, protecting, extortion collecting But try calling that what it is Safe in a system That pays by the hour Who's gonna miss some Abuses of power? (Oh how they burn) Who put the stars in my eyes? (Oh how they burn) Who put the stars in my eyes? (Oh how they burn) How they burn Out on the town tonight cursing my name Or home alone wondering why Searching in vain for a shoulder to blame And hoping that you're not the guy Losing to win The survivors prevail Here in the world Of constructive betrayal (Oh how they burn) You put the stars in my eyes (Oh how they burn) You put the stars in my eyes (Oh how they burn) How they burn

I've had a bumper crop of lemons in my life I've had a hurricane of citrus-flavored strife But I got a half an hour, and a juicer, and a carving knife I've seen the future and it looks like Lemonade Yes, I've seen the future and it looks like Lemonade Mix an ocean of a potion, make you wish you never stayed I'm gonna sugar-coat the sour things I say I'm gonna water down my wicked, worldly way I'm gonna sell it by the roadside every sunny Summer day I've seen the future and it looks like Lemonade Yes, I've seen the future and it looks like Lemonade Mix an ocean of a potion, make you wish you never stayed

about

From the Glass Eye magazine - Bowling Green, OH:

"This ten-track offering from Baltimore-bred rock and roll cutie pie Mary Prankster was recorded at the famed 9:30 Club in Washington D.C.. It is a testament to her resilience. Apparently, just before the tour began her bandmates ditched her and she somehow managed to put this crack band together at the last minute and not only pull off the tour, but record a damn good live album as well. It's a mix of mostly classic MP gems like "Mercyfuck" and "Irresponsible Woman" with three brand new tunes thrown into the mix, including "Stars" and the title track, "Lemonade". The lineup is a departure from Mary's usual rock band, incorporating accordion, double bass, and piano and Mary shelves her trademark Paul Reid Smith for an acoustic guitar. All told, this lends a much more rootsy, countrified feel to her normally sugary pop-rock sound. This is a great live document of an eminently lovable and talented rock goddess. It incorporates a lot of the songs and swagger that those of us in the know have come to appreciate about Mary, but also manages to reinvent those same aspects to give us a fresh look at an old favorite.
